Happy Monday Everyone!
We wanted to updated you on what has been going on in our classroom. We have been doing well these past two weeks. We are really starting to build an amazing class community! If you are still wondering about Class Dojo, please email us or write a note.
Math: We have been solving single and multi-step word problems. This is something you will continually see students practice throughout the year because they can be tough.
Next week we are starting place value. Place value is the CORE of math, you can ask any teacher. If the students do not know place value then they tend to struggle down the road. Therefore, we will been making sure students really understand place value and pulling students who seem to struggle. Students will be writing number up to the millions place in these formats: expand form, word form and standard form. Below is an anchor chart we will be referencing in class and to help on homework if needed.
Reading: We have been learning about character traits and practicing Daily 5. This coming week we will continue with character traits and there will be a test Friday. Additionally, we are adding another choice to Daily 5, work on writing.
If you missed Curriculum Night here is a quick overview about Daily 5. Students select from five reading and writing choices. They work independently while teachers pull small groups or conference one-on-one.
Lang./Writing: We are reviewing sentence structure. Students will do various activities on complete and incomplete sentences.

**We also use this blog to easily add games or websites for the students to do during the school day (which they are more than welcome to do at home as well). Here are some resources that we use if you ever want to take a look or have further questions!
